Thirteen years ago, I lost my brother Robin to late-stage testicular cancer. He was just 24. Fit, active, and health-conscious - he was the last person you’d ever expect to get seriously ill. Unfortunately Rob ignored symptoms, and wasn’t aware cancer could affect him. By the time we found out, it was too late.
After losing him, I founded The Robin Cancer Trust - our vision is to reach every young person in the UK with our award-winning cancer campaigns, our mission is to raise awareness, break the stigma, and start life-saving conversations about testicular cancer. Our hope is that no other family has to go through what ours did.
Testicular cancer is the most common cancer in young men, but it’s 95% curable if it’s caught early. The problem? Too many men don’t know what to look for - or are too embarrassed to talk about it.
#TalkingBollocks is exactly what it sounds like - a bold, unfiltered campaign that gets men talking, checking, and understanding their bodies. Because a quick testicular self-check once a month could be the difference between an early diagnosis and something far more serious.
We travel across the UK delivering workshops in schools, universities, and workplaces - and every conversation begins the same way: with honesty and humour. We talk bollocks, literally. Because we know that when we normalise the conversation, we save lives.
Working with INDI this November during Men’s Health Month is another powerful step in taking that message further. Their customers already care about health, wellness, and what they put into their bodies - and that’s exactly where this message belongs.
Through this partnership, we’re delivering our life-saving awareness cards inside every INDI order, reaching thousands of people who might never have heard about The Robin Cancer Trust before - and designed to spark one simple action: to check yourself.
As a small charity with a big mission, it means the world to us when brands like INDI use their platform to champion awareness. It sends an important message - that looking after your health isn’t just about what you eat or how you train, it’s also about listening to your body and speaking up when something doesn’t feel right.
What I love about this partnership is that it’s not just awareness, it’s about action. It’s about empowering you, the reader, to take charge of your health - to start checking yourself once a month, to talk openly about your health and encourage others to do the same.
Every card that’s delivered, every post shared online, every reader of this blog - together, we’re breaking down the stigma and changing the conversation around men’s health.
As a founder, and as a brother, I’m so grateful and proud to see our message grow and reach more people. It’s been a long journey since losing Robin, to building this charity from the ground up, to working alongside companies like INDI - but the hope remains the same: if we can prevent another family from going through what we did, then it’ll all be worth it.
If you take one thing away from reading this, please let it be this: Get to know what’s normal for you. Do a quick self-check once a month. And if something feels off - a lump, pain swelling, hardness, or a feeling of heaviness - go see your GP. It’s that simple.
Don’t let embarrassment kill you, don’t be afraid to talk bollocks.
